Does anyone know of a cemetery close to the Long Hollow District near Sisseton? I have family who lived at Long Hollow for many years and I want to visit their gravesites but I don't know where the cemeteries are.
Thanks! Swootz

Hi Swootz! Tamara or someone more familiar with the area might know the location, but I can offer some history- Hope this helps- From "The First 50 Years, Dakota Presbytery to 1890" Appendix- Long Hollow, (Kaksizahanska) church was organized by Dakota Presbytery, August 21, 1868, with 35 members, of whom Paul Mazakutemani, Jonas Anpetusha and Jonas Wakanhdisna were made elders. Subsequent elders were; David Hupacokamaza, Joseph Tiopamaza, Titus Paska, John Wantanyeya, Didymus Taniyawashte, David Tonwanmaza, John Tasinte, Simon Anawangmani. Pastors: Rev. Solomon Tunkanshaiciye, P. 1868- '79. Rev. Joseph Irondoor, P. 1879-'84; Rev. Louis Mazwakiyanna, SS 1884-'86; Rev. Isaac Renville, 1886-. The church now has 95 members. (1890). Rev. Solomon Tunkanshaiciye, was licensed in 1867, and ordained in 1868 by Dakota Presbytery. He was dismissed to the Presbytery of Manitoba in 1880, and received again in 1890. He was S.S. for Washtekicidapi 1867-'68, Pastor of Long Hollow 1868-79; commenced labor in Manitoba in 1879, where he organized a church among the Indians at Pahacokamya. In 1890 was received again to Dakota Presbytery and installed pastor of Buffalo Lakes church. He was born in Minnesota in 1833, educated in the mission school at Lac qui Parle, united with the church in Feb. 1858, at Hazlewood. You might want to read this newspaper article which contains a photo of Isaac Renville, then Pastor of Long Hollow- Happy hunting! Vicky
